Week 34

 Dear Parents and Students,

We have had yet another busy and productive week, ending with a publishing party for our Persuasive Essays. Please read on for an account of what we have been doing in each of the core subjects.

In the Classroom:

Maths

We continued with Topic 17 this week, and learned how to plot ordered pairs and calculate averages. We will review the topic next Tuesday, and the topic test will take place next Wednesday.

Literacy Workshop

We completed our persuasive essays this week, and had an online publishing party to

celebrate our work. In grammar, we have continued our unit about pronouns. We will complete this unit next week, before beginning our final grammar unit for the year, which is dedicated to adverbs and prepositions.

Science

We have continued with Life Science this week, and we have been investigating and discussing adaptations of different plants and animals, and how such adaptations help each species to survive. We will continue with our investigations next week, with a focus on which traits of a particular species are inherited, and which are learned.

Social Studies

We have selected our topics for our Regions presentations and everyone is busy

researching. We will continue with our research next week, and then begin to compile our data, and start to plan our presentation formats.

Other important information

As you know, the MAP assessments will take place next week. Grade 4 MAP tests will take place on Monday and Wednesday. Please try to ensure that students are able to get to bed early and have plenty of sleep. Enjoy your weekend, and I’ll see you next week!
