Week 33

 Dear Parents and Students,

We have had a very busy week, as usual, and the main focus has been the Science Fair. Thank you to all the parents who were able to visit; it was great to share the morning with you. Of course, we finished the week with our field trip to Leofoo Village. Pictures of the day will be available shortly.

In the Classroom:

Maths

We continued with Topic 17 this week, and learned how to create line plots and identify outliers. Next week, we will learn how to plot ordered pairs and calculate averages, before returning to interpreting different types of charts and graphs.

Literacy Workshop

We began our final major writing assignment for the year, Writing to Persuade. We have

used the early part of the week to plan our essays, and we will be drafting and revising our work next week. We will then finish publishing on Thursday, and hold a publishing party on Friday.

Science

All of our attention was devoted to our Science Fair projects this week, and the quality of work is testament to all of the hard work everyone has put in over the past two months. Thank you to all parents for your constant support, and congratulations to all students for a memorable Science Fair. A link to photos of the fair can be found via

the link at the bottom of this post.

Social Studies

This week we have been reading about the American Southwest, as we begin

preparing for our next Social Studies assignment. We will briefly study the West next week, then we will choose our regions, and begin researching our topic and preparing our presentations, which will be presented in a few weeks’ time.

As you will know from the listed upcoming events, MAP testing will begin the week after next. A schedule will be made available soon, along with best practices to be prepared and ready for the tests. In the meantime, I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I will see you all on Monday.
