Week 23

 Dear Parents and Students,

We have had another productive week, with activities including building electric circuits, designing book promotions, and another pizza party!  Happy birthday to Luke, Adam, and Momoka, and thank you to the parents for providing the treats!

In the Classroom:

Maths

We have been working with decimals all week, and our Topic 12 test took place on Friday. Next, we will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals and whole numbers. Our regular benchmark and cumulative tests will also take place at the end of next week.

Literacy Workshop

We read a new story from our basal this week. Sing to the Stars is a story about a boy and his special relationship with music. We continued to develop our skills in making inferences, and we also discussed the writing style of the author. We began planning and drafting our Book Promotions this week, which will be completed and ready to present in time for the upcoming Literacy Week.

Science

We are still discussing Science Fair topics in class, and finalising partners and plans for our preliminary research. In the meantime, we have continued with our exploration of electricity, and we can now build circuits in series and parallel, complete with switches. We have one more practical assignment to do before we review what we have learned.

Social Studies

We completed our study of Ports in the Southeast this week, and we will review the chapter next week. We also have a special lesson for Valentine’s Day., before we move onto our next chapter dedicated to the Atlantic Coast States.
