Week 13

 Dear Parents and Students,

We’ve had a very busy week, as usual, but the highlight, of course, was the Fun Day afternoon. Thank you to Mr Keller, Mr Ferreira, and the Grade 6 students for preparing a wonderful variety of activities for us all to enjoy. Thanks, also, to all of the parents who were able to attend. It was great to be able to see you all, and to share some time with you and your children. Photos of the afternoon are available via a link at the end of this post.

In the Classroom:

Maths

We had a test on Friday day to complete Topic 7. This was a short topic about multiplication. On Monday, we will begin Topic 8, which is dedicated to division. This is a longer topic, and the test won't take place until November 29th, just over two weeks from now.

Literacy Workshop

We finished publishing our Narrative Stories, and celebrated our work with a Publishing

Party on Friday. Next week, we will return to studying in our Literacy Circles, with a new

story titled A Very Important Day.

Science

We reviewed what we know about the water cycle and its importance to our survival. We have begun reviewing our unit about Earth Science, and a unit test is set for next Friday. An online review and practice test has also been assigned, and can be found via Google Classroom. This is to be completed before the test takes place on Friday.

Social Studies

We held our open-book chapter test on Tuesday, and we will soon begin the next topic in our books, which will focus on the Northeast region of the United States of America. As we have done since the beginning of the year, we will use the USA as a model, and make comparisons and contrasts between the USA and other parts of the world.

Other important information

Thank you to all parents for returning the parent/teacher forms. Confirmation slips were sent home this week. Please let me know as soon as possible if you didn't receive yours, or if the time slot no longer suits you. I look forward to meeting you all next week. Until then, have a great weekend, and Students, I will see you all on Monday!
